Fantastic page on George!! He indeed saved Rosecrans from destruction. He
shares little spotlight amongst his better known peers. Kudos to you for a
great page!!!

He was the best General in the North, bar none. If Grant had been a bigger man, Thomas would be better honored than he is. Still he stands head and should above the rest.

I am looking at this site because in my American History class we are doing a
trial and the trial is of Jefferson Davis being charged for treason against
the United States of America. My role is to be George Henry Thomas a "witness".

I looked at this website because I believe George Henry Thomas to be the
greatest general the American Civil War produced.

After reading Shelby Foote's The Civil War for the 3rd time: and 60 other books, four years of Pre and Post retirement study of the Civil War, the General is probably my favorite and grossly unknown to the public. Thanks for the web site. Greg Stoltz

Thank you for your website and entitling it "George H. Thomas". You have helped me with a history project that I had to do for my school. I will probably be the only one to have found this man on the internet. I was listening to a bunch of my friends and all of them said that they found nothing on him, well didn't I prove them wrong! Thanks a million!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have really enjoyed your site. I recently have done q lot of study on Chickamauga and my great grandfather & 2 great uncles fought there for the South with the 22nd AL. I have been there 4 times in the last year and know the battle quiet well. I have developed a reverent respect for Gen. Thomas while studying Chickamauga, I only wished he had fought for the South, he would have gotten the respect he so justly due him. I do think he was a great general and leader, but I also think he was a true hero and gentleman.

I am pleased to find your website on Gen Thomas.
I have a friend who is passionate in his quest to bring the unknown truths of Thomas to light. I will send him a link to your site today.

I am a Coloradoan in Virginia and after a great deal of reading on The Army of the Ohio/Cumberland, and focusing on Gen. Thomas I've become a great admirer of his. I am presently reading about the Battle of Perryville, where he wasn't as involved as he would have liked to have been, if I'm understanding Mr. Noe's book correctly, but greater things would come his way.

Any suggestions for a good biography? Also if I were to visit Southampton, where would I go to get info on him?
Thanks
Jean

Thanks so much for this great website. General Thomas has long been the Union General that I admire most. I'm happy to see someone else who feels the same way. Keep up the good work!
